A G7 (or One+) session starts automatically on the device as soon as you use the applicator to insert it. There is no need to manually start the session.
With the G6 transmitter, you could use it for up to 110 days, allowing up to 11 sensors to be used sequentially with a single transmitter. When starting a new G6 sensor, you first had to stop the previous session because a transmitter can only run one session at a time. This is why stopping a G6 sensor was necessary.
In contrast, the G7 integrates both the sensor and transmitter into a single device. Once used, it cannot be reused. If you stop a G7 session, you will never be able to start another on the same device. That’s why there’s no need for a manual stop function with the G7.
You might think stopping a G7 could prevent interference with your next one. However, just like the G6, stopping a G7 only ends the session—it does not stop the transmitter. A G7 transmitter continues sending Bluetooth data every five minutes, even after the session ends, for as long as the battery lasts (over 100 days). Stopping it does not affect transmission.
To prevent accidental stoppage, the ability to stop a G7 has been removed from xDrip. Since stopping a G7 is unnecessary, removing this option ensures you won’t unintentionally disrupt its function.
