A G7 (or One+) session starts automatically on the device as soon as you use the applicator to insert it. There is no need to manually start the session.
With the G6 transmitter, you could use it for up to 110 days, allowing up to 11 sensors to be used sequentially with a single transmitter. When starting a new G6 sensor, you first had to stop the previous sensor and ensure the transmitter was outside the sensor for at least 10 minutes before beginning a new session. Failing to do so could cause the transmitter to incorrectly detect a restart attempt and stop the session. This is why stopping a G6 sensor was necessary.
In contrast, the G7 integrates both the sensor and transmitter into a single device. Once used, it cannot be reused. There is no restart attempt detection with G7. There is no need for a manual stop function.
You might think that stopping a G7 could prevent interference with your next G7. However, just like the G6, stopping a G7 only stops the session—it does not stop the transmitter itself. A G7 device continues to send Bluetooth transmissions every five minutes as long as it has battery life, which lasts over 100 days. Stopping a G7 does not affect its transmission.
To prevent accidental stoppage, the ability to stop a G7 has been removed. Since stopping a G7 is unnecessary, removing this option ensures you won’t unintentionally disrupt its function.
